The Design Principles Behind Our Dark Mode Templates
By Tarun Baskar
Every template in this shop shares one design language: true black backgrounds, softly layered surfaces, and typography that does the heavy lifting. That consistency isn’t an accident — it’s a small set of rules applied ruthlessly.
Depth Comes From Surfaces, Not Shadows
On a pure black page, drop shadows disappear. Instead, we layer surfaces: black for the page, a dark gray for cards, and a slightly lighter tone for badges and chips. Each step up in lightness reads as elevation, keeping the interface legible without a single glow.
Serif Voice, Sans Body
Headlines are set in a serif to give the templates a distinct editorial voice, while body copy stays in a clean sans for effortless reading. The contrast between the two is what makes the pages feel considered rather than generated — and it’s the first thing people notice, even if they can’t name it.
